# Exploration / Creation

Two complementary entrances to one catalog, not mutually exclusive product silos.

## Exploration — Go further.
- Sea: ocean vessels, underwater vehicles, autonomous survey craft, observatories.
- Sky: research aviation, balloons, gliders, atmospheric instruments.
- Land: geological research, polar expeditions, environmental monitoring.
- Space: launch vehicles, rovers, telescopes, probes.

Use Land rather than Ground: it reads naturally beside Sea and Sky, and leaves room for terrain, geology and expeditions.

## Creation — Build what’s next.
- Infrastructure: bridges, tunnels, water systems and construction machines.
- Energy: generation, storage and grids.
- Manufacturing: factories, foundries, precision tools and production systems. More expansive than Factories.
- Intelligence: computing, chips, scientific sensing and instruments. Make invisible computation tangible through real objects and places; avoid generic AI imagery.
- Robotics: industrial, assistive and field robots.
- Mobility: railways, ships and transport networks.

Life & Health and Materials are promising future editorial themes. Introduce them through curated editions before promoting them to navigation categories. Food & Agriculture can begin within Robotics, Manufacturing and Land.

## Keep artistic collections independent
1. Atlas of the New Frontier — Machines in their element.
2. Anatomy of Tomorrow — Exploded views, cutaways and technical studies.
3. An Age of Discovery — Curated groups of missions, machines or discoveries.
4. The World Ahead — Clearly identified speculative futures.

A Mars rover can belong to Exploration / Space and Creation / Robotics. Its landscape print belongs to Atlas; its technical companion belongs to Anatomy. Maintain one product record with multiple subject assignments, not duplicated listings. Give each print a primary breadcrumb and show related subjects on its detail page.

## Editorial selection
Choose subjects for visual presence, an intelligible engineering story, and a meaningful contribution to discovery or human capability. Present real benefits and tradeoffs with sourced context; size, novelty and corporate claims alone are not sufficient. Label speculative worlds and interpretive technical views clearly.

## Local prototype update — 1 November 2026
The Field Edition now includes two colored subject panels, interactive category previews, decorative contour bands, and white-bordered cards with subtle paper wear, lifted corners and layered shadows. Paper effects are presentation styling, not claims about the physical product. Category previews show future edition ideas, not inventory. Existing artwork and the View the pair mode remain available.

Verified JavaScript syntax and category switching (Mobility). Checked 390px viewport for horizontal overflow: none. Local creative exploration only; no repository or live deployment changes.
